Effective date: June 13, 2026
Applies to: First Resort for iOS, published by Strife Technologies LLC.
The plain-English summary. First Resort runs entirely on your iPhone or iPad. The AI model and reference content are downloaded once from a public Hugging Face distribution on first launch, after you acknowledge a safety disclaimer, and then stored locally on your device. The app does not require an account. It does not collect, transmit, store on our servers, share, or sell any information about you, your questions, your location, or how you use the app. There are no analytics, no telemetry, and no third-party tracking inside the app. After the one-time download, the app does not make outbound network calls during normal use, except for a manual “Check for updates” button you can tap in Settings. Once the model is on your device, airplane mode does not change what the app can do.
Nothing.
The table below lists every data category Apple defines for the App Privacy questionnaire. For every one, our answer is the same.
| Apple data category | First Resort |
|---|---|
| Contact info (name, email, phone, address) | Not collected |
| Health and fitness | Not collected |
| Financial info | Not collected |
| Location (precise or coarse) | Not collected |
| Sensitive information | Not collected |
| Contacts | Not collected |
| User content (questions, transcripts, files) | Not collected |
| Browsing history | Not collected |
| Search history | Not collected |
| Identifiers (device ID, user ID, advertising ID) | Not collected |
| Purchases | Not collected |
| Usage data (interactions, sessions) | Not collected |
| Diagnostics (crash logs, performance) | Not collected |
| Other data | Not collected |
Apple’s standard crash and diagnostic reports may be collected by Apple itself if you have those settings enabled on your device. Those are governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not ours. We never see them.
The First Resort app binary that you install from the App Store is small (approximately 24 MB). It contains the user interface, the on-device inference runtime (Apple’s MLX framework), and supporting code. The 4-billion-parameter language model and the reference corpus are downloaded from our public Hugging Face distribution at huggingface.co/strifero/first-resort-mlx-4bit on first launch, after you tap “I understand” on the safety acknowledgment screen. The total downloaded size is approximately 2.4 GB. No download occurs without your explicit consent on that screen.
After the one-time download, the model and corpus are stored locally on your device. When you ask the app a question, the response is generated on your device by your device’s processor, using the locally stored model and reference corpus. There is no API call to our servers because there are no servers involved in serving your questions. We have not built infrastructure to receive your questions because the app does not need to send them anywhere.
The app contacts Hugging Face only in three situations: (1) the one-time first-launch model download described above, gated behind your acknowledgment, (2) when you tap “Check for updates” in Settings to compare your locally stored model version against the published version, and (3) when you tap “Update now” to download a newer model version. There is no background polling, no automatic update check, and no telemetry of any kind. Hugging Face is a public AI model hosting service operated by Hugging Face, Inc. They see only standard web-server log information (your IP address and the file you requested) and do not receive any information about your questions or your use of the app, because none of that information ever leaves your device.
This is why the answer to every privacy question is the same. The architecture makes it impossible for us to collect what we cannot receive.
Same answer. We do not collect data from anyone, including children. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store. The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) compliance is straightforward for us: we cannot violate it because we collect nothing.
We do not share or sell any data with or to third parties. There is no data to share or sell. The app does not contain third-party SDKs that perform their own data collection. The app does not display advertisements. The app does not contain in-app purchases or subscription mechanisms.
The app stores the downloaded AI model, the reference corpus, and application preferences locally on your device for the purpose of providing core functionality. In future versions, the app may also store optional chat history that you choose to save. This data stays on your device. It is not synced to any server we control. You can clear it at any time by deleting and reinstalling the app.
If we change the app’s data practices in a future version, we will update this policy and post the effective date at the top. Any version of the app that begins collecting data will require this policy to change first. We will not retroactively apply new data practices to past versions.
